Flashback to last summer... Lucky, as only I can be, I was called up to photograph Father John Misty and friends, at the first big music festival in The Piece Hall, Halifax, since the recent revival of the 1770's cloth hall.

It was a brilliant day, the music, the people and the atmosphere in this magical place, second to none!

Being a Commercial and Events photographer, it's one of those great occasions I get to attend and enjoy! 

Anyway, the venue is legendary, the music line-up fantastic and weather sublime... making my event photography days pure joy...

First up it was hot young local band, The Orielle's... making plenty of big noise on BBC 6 Music of late...  The Orielles play The Piece Hall, Halifax

In between bands it was a great time to catch up with friends, it was all good...

Next up, Leeds and Halifax locals, the Hookworms, an electro drum and bass rocking machine, that had the crowd rapt...

Followed closely by legendary muso, Edwyn Collins, with some great anthems...

And no, this was not posed, just a brief exchange of views!...

As the sun set on The Piece Hall, out strode Father John Misty aka Josh Tillman, an American who, in my ears is a cross between Al Stewart, The Eagles and the dark side of Nick Cave... you've got a very special musician here and no listening here... just a few of my favourite snaps from the evening...

It's fair to say, that was an awesome evening out and I'm looking forward to getting down for this year's next big gigs at http://www.thepiecehall.co.uk
