The amazing journey I've been on since going freelance, just a year after taking redundancy as press photographer at the local paper, it's seriously had it's ups and downs. Working from home, for yourself - and family of course, motivation, marketing, customer and IT issues. There has been loads of entertainment to contend with, let alone getting out there and doing some photography - most preferably paid!
It's all best shown with some photography, I will explain more as I go... Starting out with a refreshing break in Scotland, fishing in the tarns on the West Coast certainly helps.
A call from Blue Rubicon, the advertising agents for Coca Cola, got me in to help launch their new 'life' product, and yes it's supposed to be green! An interiors shoot at the amazing mill conversion, at the Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre in Halifax. Pictured here, Lee 'Mr Social Snowflake' Kenny, walks through the atrium - which was previously outdoors.
This shot from Farmfest 2014, one of my most popular events galleries, could well be an advert for doing 'selfies' with a friend!
Capturing the Brownlee brothers winning gold and silver during the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2014, was pretty special, as was freeze-framing the drinking method!
And then there was the cafe culture in the beautiful city of Glasgow 2014, not the Med as it seems!
In preparation for the Tour de France coming to Yorkshire, I spent time capturing the beautiful scenes of Calderdale, with the odd cyclist thrown in for good measure, check out the Tour de Calderdale gallery.
When the Tour de France did arrive, the atmosphere was incredible, What a cracking day!
Food photography with among others, consultant chef Matthew Benson-Smith, definitely served up some tasty treats!
A look inside the OrangeBox, Halifax, with the Community Foundation for Calderdale. Another very cool building!
Website photography for Jermyn Consulting, Huddersfield, adding that personal touch to their company profile.
And a lovely day spent with wallpaper and interior designer Claire Murray. beep beep!
Loved the architecture at Shrewsbury Train Station,
and I got up close as Clugston Construction pieced together the giant arches of the new Leeds Recycling Plant
I thrived on the actions and entertainment at the Great Yorkshire Show,
and captured this moment from the Royal Dartmouth Regatta - a favourite of the Royal Navy lads on twitter,
and had tea with celebrities at Kate Hardcastle's Dreamgirls charity fundraiser.
Thinking of wallpaper designs, an autumn coloured creation, found on my rambles...
and then cycled the snowy Pennine Way, a chilly and beautiful adventure! This image is shaped for magazine use.
It's fair to say, I'm back onto my lifetime dream of being a creative photographer again. Since coming from the landscapes and wildlife photography in New Zealand, to the press photography hotbox of the UK, now I'm out on my own again, I'm loving it!
Take a look through some of my galleries if you have the time and you'll see what I mean. It's a piece of cake...
